28 November (KNO) : Senior Hurriyat leader and Chairman Islamic Political Party JK Mohammad Yousuf Naqash while expressing serious concern and strongly condemning the ill treatment and ruthless thrashing of Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar jail by jail authorities has said that miserable condition and inhuman treatment meted out to the Kashmiri prisoners in and outside Jammu Kashmir including different parts of India is the matter of grave concern. Naqash further said that Kashmiri prisoners languishing in Indian jails are political prisoners associated with Kashmir cause and they are entitled to proper health care, security and dignity under Geneva conventions to which Indian State is signatory but unfortunately India tramples these international conventions under feet by not only ill treating our prisoners, also thrashing, beating and humiliating them and denying them medical facilities. Kashmiri prisoners are not criminals but pursuing a political cause of honorable and lasting solution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people. India is disrespecting its own jail manual by converting its jails into torture centers for political prisoners of Kashmir and putting their lives in danger through mental, psychological and physical torture. Naqash appealed international human rights organizations including particularly international committee of Red cross to take such miserable and inhuman treatment of political prisoners of Kashmir seriously and exert pressure on India for their safety, proper health care and dignity and use your good offices for shifting them from Indian jails to Kashmir in the interest of saving their lives and dignity and ensuring their release. Naqash also appealed the civil society, human rights organizations to come to the rescue of political prisoners of Kashmir by saving them from this torturous imprisonment and taking steps for their release.(KNO)
